Description
Our extrafine single pigment watercolor Italian Burnt Sienna is prepared with pure Italian Burnt Sienna inorganic mineral pigment. It is “burnt”, because obtained from the “raw” form by calcination. Raw and burnt Sienna was used as pigment since the middle of the eighteen century when the quarrying of the raw material in the area of Siena in Italy started.
Italian Burnt Sienna watercolor by Nila Colori, prepared with this pure pigment, is natural Italian earth pigment. Its color is due to the iron and manganese oxides, is transparent and extremely lightfast.
Italian Burnt Sienna pigment is milled with just the right amount of a mixture of Kordofan gum arabic (binder) and vegetable glycerin (humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding ease and pleasantness of painting. We don’t add any filler or any other organic compound, which might alter the color over time.
