Description

Our extrafine watercolor Vegetal Payne’s Gray is prepared with two pigments, Vine Black and Maya Blue. Payne’s Gray is a dark color with a bluish tinge. This one, produced by Nila Colori, is completely of plant origin. It can be used to make great shades. It is named after William Payne, an english artist who invented it and lived between the 18th and the 19th century.

Vegetal Payne’s Gray watercolor by Nila Colori, prepared with this pure pigment, is rather lightfastsemi-transparent and has a moderate tinting strength.

Vine Black and Maya Blue pigments are milled with just the right amount of a mixture of Kordofan gum arabic (binder) and vegetable glycerin (humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding ease and pleasantness of painting. We don’t add any filler or any other organic compound, which might alter the color over time.
