Description
Our extrafine single pigment watercolor Monte Amiata Raw Sienna is prepared with pure Monte Amiata Raw Sienna inorganic mineral pigment. This is a natural earth with hydrated iron and manganese oxides extracted in Tuscan. It is not known when the quarrying of the row material started. The Italian botanist Pier Antonio Micheli mentions it in 1733, but it was probably already used in Etruscan times.
Monte Amiata Raw Sienna watercolor by Nila Colori, prepared with this pure pigment, is bright with marked golden shades, is transparent and extremely lightfast.
Monte Amiata Raw Sienna pigment is milled with just the right amount of a mixture of Kordofan gum arabic (binder) and vegetable glycerin (humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding ease and pleasantness of painting. We don’t add any filler or any other organic compound, which might alter the color over time.
