Description
Our extrafine single pigment watercolor Genuine Weld Lake is prepared with the pigment obtained from Reseda luteola, a weed which is widespread all over the World. Luteolin is the molecule (a flavone): it is the most lightfast organic natural yellow. This color was often used in the past, both alone, and together with blue obtained from indigo.
Genuine Weld Lake watercolor by Nila Colori, prepared with this pure pigment, is transparent and has a low tinting strength.
Genuine Weld Lake pigment is milled with just the right amount of a mixture of Kordofan gum arabic (binder) and vegetable glycerin (humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding ease and pleasantness of painting. We don’t add any filler or any other organic compound, which might alter the color over time.
