This is obtained from the processing of different plants, depending on the world area. For example in Europe from Isatis tinctoria or Woad, in Far East from Persicaria tinctoria (or Polygonum tinctorium), in South America from Indigofera suffruticosa. The main indigo producing country has long been <strong>India <\/strong>(its name originates from this fact), where Indigofera tinctoria was and is still worked. The <strong>Indigo<\/strong>\u00a0which\u00a0<strong>Nila Colori<\/strong> uses to produce this watercolor comes from India. The manufacturing\u00a0process of this pigment is fascinating and involves the\u00a0<strong>fermentation<\/strong> of the plant in big tanks to allow the extraction of the coloring principle, which will then precipitate as a pigment, due to an oxidation reaction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Extrafine Handmade Watercolor Genuine Indigo<\/strong> is made in Italy by Nila Colori, prepared with this pure pigment, is<strong> rather lightfast<\/strong>, <b>opaque <\/b>and has a <strong>high tinting strength<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Genuine Indigo pigment is milled with just the right amount of a mixture of<strong>\u00a0Kordofan gum arabic<\/strong> (binder) and <strong>vegetable\u00a0glycerin<\/strong>\u00a0(humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding\u00a0<strong>ease and pleasantness of painting<\/strong>.
