Vine (Vitis vinifera) shoots are heated in almost complete absence of oxygen, so that the wood isn&#8217;t transformed to ashes, but just to\u00a0<strong>black carbon<\/strong>. Vine has the properties to provide a\u00a0<strong>really fine<\/strong> carbon: this feature makes it great to be used as a pigment in fine arts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Extrafine Handmade Watercolor Vine Black<\/strong>\u00a0is made in Italy by Nila Colori and is prepared with this pure pigment, is<strong>\u00a0extremely lightfast<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>semi-transparent <\/strong>and\u00a0has a <strong>moderate tinting strength<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Vine Black<\/b>\u00a0pigment is milled with just the right amount of a mixture of<strong>\u00a0Kordofan gum arabic<\/strong> (binder) and <strong>vegetable\u00a0glycerin<\/strong>\u00a0(humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding\u00a0<strong>ease and pleasantness of painting<\/strong>.
