This is an historical pigment from\u00a0<strong>contemporary age<\/strong>, it belongs to the group of cadmium reds and so was produced some decades after the introduction of the analogous yellow.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Extrafine Handmade Watercolor Cadmium Bordeaux<\/strong> is made in Italy by Nila Colori and is prepared with this pure pigment, within the cadmium reds it&#8217;s one having the <strong>coolest shade<\/strong>.\u00a0Extremely\u00a0<strong>lightfast<\/strong>, it owns high<strong>\u00a0tinting\u00a0strength<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>covering\u00a0power\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0is very\u00a0intense. It&#8217;s one of the colors which shows a moderate\u00a0<strong>drying shift<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>incompatible<\/strong>\u00a0with\u00a0<strong>copper\u00a0<\/strong>based pigments, which might darken because of hydrogen sulfide which it might free in time: avoid to combine it with\u00a0<em>Malchite<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Verditer<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Egyptian Blue<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cadmium Bordeaux<\/strong>\u00a0pigment is milled with just the right amount of a mixture of<strong>\u00a0Kordofan gum arabic<\/strong> (binder) and <strong>vegetable\u00a0glycerin<\/strong>\u00a0(humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding\u00a0<strong>ease and pleasantness of painting<\/strong>.
