It exists in nature as the mineral eskolaite, rare and probably never used for artistic purposes. It was introduced during the end of the\u00a0<strong>modern age<\/strong>, at the beginning of the XIXth century and since then it has been largely used by\u00a0<strong>artists<\/strong>\u00a0(one of the first ones to use it was probably J.M.W. Turner in 1812).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Extrafine Handmade Watercolor Chromium Green<\/strong> is made in Italy by Nila Colori, prepared with this pure pigment, is<strong> opaque<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>dull olive green<\/strong>, with a shade similar to green earth, but having a much\u00a0<strong>stronger tinting strength<\/strong>. It&#8217;s probably<strong>\u00a0the most lightfast green<\/strong>. Diluted alone or mixed with other pigments it gives its best to get\u00a0<strong>naturalistic<\/strong>\u00a0colors or to cool too warm reds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Chromium Green<\/strong>\u00a0pigment is milled with just the right amount of a mixture of<strong>\u00a0Kordofan gum arabic<\/strong> (binder) and <strong>vegetable\u00a0glycerin<\/strong>\u00a0(humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding\u00a0<strong>ease and pleasantness of painting<\/strong>.
