This is\u00a0<strong>the earliest<\/strong>\u00a0synthetic pigment known: it was already produced during the IIIrd millennium a.C in\u00a0<strong>Egypt<\/strong>. It production and use in art continued\u00a0<strong>for centuries<\/strong>: in Egypt until the Ptolemaic period, in Minoan art, in Mesopotamia, in Greek civilization. Thanks to the Roman it spread from Pompeii to England and medioeval artists used it in fresco technique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To produce it, the following\u00a0<strong>raw matters<\/strong>\u00a0were mixed: sand, limestone, a\u00a0<strong>copper mineral<\/strong>\u00a0(usually malachite) and soda (sodium carbonate): the mixture was cooked at about 900\u00b0C for many hours. The resulting mass was ground and washed.\u00a0<strong>In nature<\/strong>\u00a0a mineral with the same composition does exist:<strong>\u00a0cuprorivaite<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Extrafine Handmade Watercolor Genuine Egyptian Blue<\/strong> is made in Italy by Nila Colori and has a <strong>low tinting strength<\/strong>, it&#8217;s really\u00a0<strong>transparent<\/strong>\u00a0and excellently\u00a0<strong>lightfast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Genuine Egyptian Blue pigment is milled with just the right amount of a mixture of<strong>\u00a0Kordofan gum arabic<\/strong> (binder) and <strong>vegetable\u00a0glycerin<\/strong>\u00a0(humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding\u00a0<strong>ease and pleasantness of painting<\/strong>.
