Our Extrafine Handmade Watercolor Cobalt Cerulean Blue is prepared with pure Cobalt Cerulean Blue pigment, chemically cobalt stannate. This is an historical pigment, prepared for the first time at the end of the 1700s, but it spread among artists mostly since the second half of the XIX century.
The Extrafine Handmade Watercolor Cobalt Cerulean Blue is made in Italy by Nila Colori and is prepared with this pure pigment, is extremely lightfast, it has a low tinting strength, is semi-opaque and is quite greener than Cobalt Blue.
Cobalt Cerulean Blue pigment is milled with just the right amount of a mixture of Kordofan gum arabic (binder) and vegetable glycerin (humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding ease and pleasantness of painting. We don’t add any filler or any other organic compound, which might alter the color over time.
