The Extrafine Handmade Watercolor Armenian Golden Ochre by Nila Colori has been thoroughly assessed and certified by the Art and Creative Materials Institute (ACMI) for its safety, complying with the standards set by ASTM D 4236.
Our Extrafine Handmade Watercolor Armenian Golden Ochre is prepared with pure Golden Ochre pigment. This is a natural earth coming from Armenia, whose color comes from iron oxides (limonite and goethite) which compose it.
The Extrafine Handmade Watercolor Armenian Golden Ochre is made in Italy by Nila Colori and is prepared with this pure pigment, is extremely lightfast, semi-transparent and has a moderate tinting strength. The color is golden yellow, with a shade typical of natural earths.
Golden Ochre pigment is milled with just the right amount of a mixture of Kordofan gum arabic (binder) and vegetable glycerin (humectant and plasticyzer). These are the ingredients which are historically the main characters in the production of the watercolors and which give the best results regarding ease and pleasantness of painting. We don’t add any filler or any other organic compound, which might alter the color over time.
